2023 NATIONAL TRAINERS CONFERENCE

Cost: $350 USD*

This conference will be an opportunity for OB trainers across the United States to connect and to talk about successes, failures, and goals for the future of training at Outward Bound. In addition to learning from your peers across the nation, OB USA will also be introducing two new trainings: Creating the Supportive Environment and Responding to Emotional Dysregulation. The goal of these new trainings is to more effectively meet the needs of all students through trauma-aware instruction.  

*For those attending both the Conference and Symposium, there will be a $100 discount (total cost $600)

OB OF THE AMERICAS SYMPOSIUM

At Outward Bound, we are bound by common ideas, excited by future possibility and provoked by the question: What can we learn from each other? This year's themes for the OB of the America's Symposium are:

1. People: When our staff are at their best, our students get the most wonderful learning experiences. How can we help staff be their best now?
2. Place: The natural world is novel and creates the conditions for learning. How can we most effectively use our environments for education while promoting their protection?
3. Process: How Outward Bound happens is magical. Sometimes it is predictable. Sometimes it surprises. Always, it is a mix of art and science. How can we use both to offer the best to our students?

UTAH CANYONs EXPEDITION

Cost: $500 USD

April 8th-12th

Participants will travel to the COBS Basecamp in Moab, Utah. From there, they will embark on a three-day expedition in the canyons of the San Rafael Swell. This spectacular landscape was formed by millennia of wind and water. The region is composed of a spell-binding labyrinth of slot canyons, pinnacles, buttes, and arches just waiting to be explored. On this expedition, you can look forward to camping on expansive slabs or rock, hiking through slot canyons, and stopping along the way to explore unique desert microclimates. The San Rafael Swell lies within the ancestral lands of the Ute and Pueblos Nations.
