Dustin grew up in Eugene, Oregon. He was first introduced to the mountains while running cross country in high school. Each year the team would run up South Sister in the Oregon Cascades. The view from the top was amazing. This sent Dustin down the track he is on now, over ten years later, still climbing mountains-and having an incredible time!
Dustin has been with COBS since 2010. He started as an Assistant Instructor, and since then has been a Lead Instructor, Staff Trainer, and Course Director. He primarily works out of the Rocky Mountain Program in Leadville on Pathfinder semesters and Mountaineering & Rock Climbing courses. He is certified as a Wilderness First Responder, holds certification in AIARE Level II Avalanche, and attended COBS staff training in Ecuador. Outside of COBS he volunteered with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic, and also rode his bike across the United States. When he isn’t working, Dustin likes to go climbing and adventuring in the deserts of Utah or visit family, friends, and wilderness back home in Oregon.
