Zack has served the Colorado Outward Bound School in Leadville for five years: first as an Intern (2010), Assistant Instructor (2011), and Lead Instructor (2012-present). His preferred courses are 15-22 day Youth Ventures (ages 14-16), and open enrollment mountaineering and alpine backpacking courses ages 18+.

In the off season, Zack works as a substitute teacher at the elementary and middle school level and as a personal tutor to children. He also works at the Boulder Rock Club in Boulder, CO as a climbing instructor and coach.
Growing up in Durango, CO, Zack has communed with nature since before he could walk. Back country skiing, mountaineering, mountain biking, whitewater kayaking/rafting, rock climbing, and backpacking are all favorite hobbies. He also likes to travel. In addition to climbing trips to Northern Italy, Joshua Tree, Red Rocks, Indian Creek, and beyond, Zack has captained a raft down the entirety of the Grand Canyon, built and installed water filters in Honduras, and white water kayaked in Costa Rica. When not in the outdoors, he writes prose, poetry, and songs for the guitar, ukulele, and mandolin and referees soccer.
